John Farnham’s music took center stage in Melbourne as a large group of artists gathered to celebrate the Australian singer’s career and influence.
The tribute concert at Rod Laver Arena brought together more than 120 performers and musicians, with Keith Urban, Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Jessica Mauboy and Human Nature among those taking part. International artists also contributed remotely, adding to the scale of the event.
Celine Dion appeared from Paris and performed Farnham’s signature song, You’re the Voice. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin shared an original tribute titled A Better Singer Than Me, while Hugh Jackman also participated from afar.
Farnham did not attend the concert as he continues to deal with health issues following his treatment for oral cancer.
The event also supported Head and Neck Cancer Australia through its Lend Your Voice fundraising campaign. The night served as a celebration of Farnham’s decades-long career and the impact his music has had on fellow performers and audiences.
